Foreword
Article Outline
Thromboembolic disease is a major public health problem and accounts for hundreds of thousands of deaths each year in the United States alone. In this issue of Current Problems in Surgery, Drs. Thomas Wakefield, Joseph Caprini, and Anthony Comerota write authoritatively about the topic, beginning with incidence, risk factors, and pathogenesis, and proceeding with anatomical sites of disease, prophylaxis and medical and non-medical treatments of the disease. This is an excellent monograph and will appeal to physicians and surgeons in all fields of medicine.
