Patients with rectal prolapse are subject to many medical and societal problems. The disease is treated surgically and there is a long history of various therapeutic approaches leading to the current accepted management of this disorder. In this issue of Current Problems in Surgery Dr. James Wu of the Cleveland Clinic has crafted a state-of-the-art monograph on the diagnosis and management of patients with this disease. The article is well-written and well-illustrated and there is an extensive bibliography. It will serve as a standard excellent authoritative reference for years to come.
