Foreword
Article Outline
The field of minimally invasive surgery continues to evolve such that today there is hardly a specialty of surgery that has not been revolutionized by this versatile technology. In this issue of Current Problems in Surgery, Dr. Pedro del Nido and his colleagues at Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston University, Siemens Healthcare and Phillips Medical Systems have written an excellent monograph entitled “Image-Guided Surgical Interventions.” They primarily address four topics: Imaging, Displays, Navigation and Surgical Instruments in providing an overview of the current technology available, and in development, and its application to clinical surgery. The monograph provides state of the art information about this highly important area of surgical research and clinical practice.
